Flu Vaccine

FAQ's

I am too young
The vaccine is for anyone 6 months and older. The flu virus doesn't care how old you are - it affects all age groups.

The vaccine will give me flu
This is impossible. There are no live components in the vaccine.

There are side-effects when you have the flu vaccination
The vaccination is very safe. You may get some soreness where the vaccine was injected. Less often, people get a slight temperature and aching muscles for a couple of days after being vaccinated. This is NOT Flu.

I had a flu vaccination before and I still got flu
It almost certainly wasn't flu. There are many chest and upper airways viruses around in winter.

I had one 2 years ago, why do I need another one
Each year the flu viruses change. The World Health Organisation tracks these changes and advises the manufacturers as to which strains people should be protected against each year.
