In December 2003, the Department of Health formally recommended that all non-immune healthcare workers - including 'ambulance drivers, cleaners on wards, catering staff and receptionists in general practice as well as medical, nursing, dental and other professional staff, whether employed directly or through a subcontract', receive varicella immunisation, to protect both themselves and patients from the threat of chickenpox.
The process is simple and straightforward, consisting of two doses of vaccine given 4-8 weeks apart.
This new vaccination adds to our already comprehensive range of tests and vaccinations for health care workers, including vaccinations for BCG, flu, MMR and hepatitis B, heaf tests for TB sensitivity, and tests for a wide range of other vaccine-preventable diseases.
Tests and vaccinations may be undertaken here at our Harley Street clinic,
or, depending on the numbers involved, we may be able to visit you by arrangement
to test/vaccinate groups of workers on-site.
